10 Travel Mementos

Posted on April 21, 2022May 12, 2022 by HerCoffee&Postcards

“Keep some souvenirs of your past, or how will you ever prove it wasn’t all a dream?”

Ashleigh Brilliant

I collect postcards. Not a deltiologist per se, but do appreciate each one’s uniqueness, not to mention the great ability to stash it in a suitcase without so much as adding an ounce of weight.

I started this memento collection back in college. I was presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend a semester abroad…in Italy! Young, full of enthusiasm, and first time away from home and family, I would send boxes of tchotchkes and other gifts back home. My family had never been to Europe (east coast road trips only), so I wanted to share with them pieces of my experience.

But soon I found how much space these miscellaneous souvenirs took up in my travel bags. Plus, the cost to send them overseas! So, postcards became the perfect keepsake for me—light, inexpensive, small and each unique to the place where they were purchased.

Here are 10 convenient for travel mementos – postcards included, of course.

  1. Postcards
  2. Stamps
  3. Christmas Ornaments (another one of my favorites!)
  4. Patches
  5. Jewelry
  6. Brochures/Pamphlets
  7. Maps
  8. Currency
  9. Books
  10. Caps
